Ash's eyebrows raised, and his earrings glinted in the sun. He snorted disbelievingly.
"Where do I even start? He transforms from a normal werewolf intoâ¦into something else. He's like something out of a comic book or a movie. There's another person, another mind, walking around out there, right now, in a body that he...they...share? Drake, I saw that other person, in that other body, turn into a lethal weapon. Shadow tore apart those dog soldiers down in that base like they were paper. It was like being in the middle of a battle with the titans...I don't know how to describe it, let alone process it. And right now, heâs goneâ¦and no one knows how to get him back or if we can."
Standing up, Ash cracked his back and made his way over to the kitchen. He yanked open the fridge, grabbed the orange juice bottle off the shelf, and took several long gulps from it before putting it back. He shut the fridge door with a rattle and stood behind the counter, looking back over at his brother, glad to have wet his throat.
"I liked Brian,â Ash went on. âHe seemed like a good guy and hell, I even hired him. Gave him a job. I needed the help. Blaine needs the help. He's overworked as it is and now, Brian's gone, and Shadow is here. I can't work Shadow, Drake. I don't know what I'm going to do. When I open the club, and I'll have to pretty soon, Blaine can't handle all of it himself. How the hell do I handle it, Drake? What do I do?"
Draco got up and came over to the kitchen island counter and sat on one of the barstools.
"I don't know Ash. We have to trust that Brian is still with us somewhere in there. Raven is bloody brilliant; together, perhaps we can find a solution. We just need time to make sense of all this. You should hire more help; I know youâve had staffing issues lately. You can't just rely on two security guards.â Draco sighed.
âAs for Shadow...â Draco paused, thinking. He went on a moment later, his blue-green eyes deep in reflection.
âI know from what we've seen of him, here with us, he seems to be a gentle giant, but there are the stories you all have told me over the last two days. I think we have to admit that we should go slow with him until he's got a better grip on what he can do and until we understand the relationship between him and Brian to be safe. I've been downstairs talking about this with Molly, Raven, and Jackson." He went on.
Ash shook his head.
"What about John? What are we going to do with him? We canât just toss him out or to the feds, not after what heâs done." Ash asked, looking up at Draco meeting his eyes, his tone cautious.
Draco held up his hands. "Molly and I have been on the phone with Davidson and Jenner all morning.
